LYON COUNTY COMMISSION MINUTES

SEPTEMBER 21, 2023

The Board of Lyon County Commissioners met in Action Session at 9:00 a.m. in the Commission Chambers with the following people in attendance:

Molly Priest, County Counselor                                              Dan Williams, County Controller

Call to Order / Pledge of Allegiance

Motion:  To Approve the Agenda as presented.                                                        Matin/Duft 3-0                                                                                                                

Motion:  To Approve the Minutes of the 9-14-2023 meeting.                                  Duft/Peck 3-0                                                                                                                                      

Motion:  To Approve Warrants Payable 9-22-2023 in the amount of $698,037.55.                        Peck/Duft 3-0

Appointments: For Information only.

 

Personnel changes: Alicia Rumold has been hired as the new Human Resources director. She will start Tuesday.

 

Permits:  CMB license for Ignacio Velazques.

 

Motion: To Approve the CMB license permit number 115982 for Ignacio Velazques from September 23, 2023, until

               September 24,2023.                                                         Duft/Peck 3-0

 

Note: No issues have been reported by LCECC regarding this event.

 

Roxy Van Gundy, LCECC, presented Commissioners with approving a Mutual Aid Agreement for Turnpike Calls between Chase County, Lyon County, Butler County, and the Kansas Turnpike Authority.

 

Motion: To Approve the Mutual Aid Agreement for Turnpike Calls between Chase County, Lyon County, Butler County,

                and the Kansas Turnpike Authority.                       Martin/Duft 3-0

 

Reports:

Commissioner Martin:

  • No meetings this week.
  • Will attend the Council on Aging meeting on Monday.
  • Will attend a luncheon for Road and Bridge at 11:30am hosted by NF Construction.
  • Will attend the Annual meeting for Farm Bureau.

 

Commissioner Peck:

  • Will attend a luncheon for Road and Bridge at 11:30am hosted by NF Construction.

 

Commissioner Duft:

  • Will attend the Annual meeting with Farm Bureau.
  • Looked at road issues from calls.
  • Will attend a luncheon for Road and Bridge at 11:30am hosted by NF Construction.

 

Deputy Jackson:

  • I will be gone next week; Deputy Joe Torres will be in my place.

 

Counselor Priest:

  • Tuesday met with Deb Dillner with KDOT and completed the Title VI Review.

 

Controller Williams:

  • Will attend a luncheon for Road and Bridge at 11:30am hosted by NF Construction.
  • Looking for Insurance renewal by tomorrow or the end of the month.
  • Will publish another Budget hearing for October 5th for districts.

 

Motion: To move to Legal Executive Session for Exchange of Confidential Information with Commissioners, Counselor

                Priest, and Dan Williams to return at 9:45 a.m.                                                     Martin/Duft 3-0
