Shane Brunner presented Commissioners with a request to consider signing a Proclamation for Bike, Run, Walk Week.

Motion: To Proclaim May 29, 2022, to June 4, 2022, Walk, Run and Bike Week in Lyon County, Kansas.

Robbie Weiss presented Commissioners with a request to consider approving the emergency replacement of RTU at 425 Merchant.

Motion: To Approve Change Order #1 for 2021 Generator #2 Replacement, Lyon County Jail in the amount of $6,723.38 to be paid from Fund 010-18-7280 for Mitchell-Markowitz Construction Co. Inc. Martin/Peck 3-0
Note: This cost is offset by insurance reimbursement.

Motion: To Approve the purchase of a Heating and Air conditioning Roof Top Unit from Modern Air Conditioning, Inc. in the amount of $20,264.00 to be paid from Fund 017-00-9021. Briggs/Peck 3-0

Steve Willis presented Commissioners with a request to consider approving travel and registration cost to attend the NADCP Conference in Nashville, TN.

Motion: To Approve out of state travel for six (6) Community Corrections staff attending the NADCP Conference in Nashville, TN July 24 – July 28, 2022. Briggs/Martin 3-0
Note: Registration cost is $5,370.00 with travel expenses of $1,500.00

Jim Brull and Bruce Boettcher presented Commissioners with a request to consider the engineering services for the Road & Bridge shop buildings. Professional services for the county are not required to be bid. This project will be funded by sales tax and ARP funds. The Road & Bridge Department will perform some of the dirt work needed to offset costs.

Motion: To Approve the Engineering Service Agreement between Lyon County and BG Consultants, Inc. for a total of $511,125.00 to be paid from Fund 017-00-9048 for the Road & Bridge shop buildings.

Discussion: Commissioner Briggs stated this is an investment in our Road & Bridge Department and Lyon County. This will provide a safer working environment for the employees. Commissioner Martin agreed that safety is a concern. American Rescue funds will be used to fund this project. Commissioner Peck agreed that ARP funds are allowed to be used for this kind of project and agreed the safety of our employees is important along with some equipment storage will save deterioration of the equipment.
