Appointments: Commissioners discussed a vacant fair board position appointment.

Roxanne Van Gundy presented Commissioner with a request to consider approving a change to the starting wage of Comm. Officer II and to agree to an additional addition to the incentive package. Commissioners gave direction to move forward with the starting wage. Roxanne also made a request to consider a .50 cent increase for employees who train on Fire Certification.

Chip Woods presented Commissioners with a request to consider restricting traffic on Road P by Camp Alexander for the NICA Youth Mountain Bike event on May 15 and May 16, 2021. Chip also presented the recycle trailer report.

Motion: To Approve restricting through travel for 48 hours on Road 175 and Road 180 on Road P’s by Camp Alexander for the NICA Youth Mountain Bike Event on May 15 and May 16, 2021. Peck/Briggs 3-0

Motion: To move to Non-Elected Personnel Executive Session with Commissioners and Chip Woods for purposes of discussion related to employee wages, to return to commission chambers at 9:50 a.m. Martin/Briggs 3-0

Road Hearing on Road U North of Road 75: Commissioner discussed the road viewing. Ida Haag and Harry Haag both commented that they expressed their views yesterday and no one wished the road vacated. Commissioners thanked those attending for their professionalism in their responses.

Motion: To Adopt Resolution 17-21, a Resolution vacating a portion of Road U North of Road 75 in Lyon County, Kansas.

Resolution failed for lack of Motion. Commissioners were in agreement with the local residents on not vacating the road.

Chuck Boyce and Jamie Williams presented Commissioners with information regarding the increasing demand for wireless infrastructure on the county network and offered a solution and bid to accommodate the increasing needs. Commissioners discussed the benefits of wireless solutions.

Motion: To Approve the quote from CDW-G for Lyon County facility’s wireless service and equipment in the amount of $72,758.91 to be paid from Fund 017-00-9001. Briggs/Peck 3-0
Motion: To Approve the quote from ValuNet Fiber for 78 cable runs for Lyon County facility’s wireless internet in the amount of $19,609.59 to be paid from Fund 017-00-9001. Peck/Martin 3-0
