LYON COUNTY HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT is hiring a truck driver and bridge laborer for full-time employment with full benefits. These positions are labor intensive and works in all climates. Truck driver must possess appropriate Kansas Commercial Driver’s License. Bridge laborer must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license. Each must pass drug/physical tests. POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Director of Community Corrections — This is an exempt position. The Community Corrections Director is responsible for the overall operation of the Fifth Judicial District Community Corrections’ programs. This position manages both community corrections adult officers and juvenile officers in a manner that enhances the public safety of our communities and provides cost effective, research-based services and programs that meet the correctional needs of offenders served by the department. The position requires a four-year degree from an accredited college or university, with major course work in behavioral science, counseling, criminal justice, psychology, social work, sociology, public administration, or a closely related field, in addition to supervisory experience. Preferred applicants would have a Master’s degree in one of the areas outlined above with three to five years of relevant work experience, grant writing and supervisory experience. Foreign language mastery, in addition to English, is also a plus. This position requires a Class C driver’s license.

Lyon County Communications Operator

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has an opening for a full-time Communications Operator. This is a non-exempt position with full benefits. Starting pay is $13.20 per hour.
The shift assignment for this opening is subject to departmental needs and requires working some weekends and holidays.
We are looking for a person able to communicate well, both verbally and in writing, who can deal successfully in a high-stress environment of the communication center.
Appointment to this position requires a completed application, successful completion of pre-employment background, physical, and polygraph examinations, and participation in the department’s random drug and alcohol screening program.
