Water Conservation Warning

To help conserve the water supply of the City of Emporia and to meet the needs and demands of the citizens, a Water Conservation Warning has been declared. 

The Mandatory Conservation Measures for Lyon County / City of Emporia Include: 

Eliminate all non-essential water use.

Repair all water leaks within 5 days.

No new sod permits shall be issued.  The placing of sod & seeding of yards is prohibited.

Use of hydrant meters is prohibited except for the uses permitted in this resolution.

Alternate day outside watering:  If the last number in your address ends in an odd number, water on an odd number calendar day.  Last number in your address ends in an even number, water on an even number calendar day.

Times for outside watering:  Do not water between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on any day.

Residential car washing is prohibited.  Commercial car wash businesses shall be permitted to continue operations.

 


 

 

Severe Weather Awareness Training:

Hosted by the National Weather Service,
in conjunction with the Lyon County Emergency Management Office.

Date:  March of each year

Time:  7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Location:  Lyon County Fair Grounds / Anderson Building
12th & Industrial Road / Emporia, Kansas   66801

Traditionally, spring is severe weather season in Kansas, however, tornados and thunderstorms can occur anytime.   The National Weather Service in Topeka, Kansas will present information to help citizens better prepare for severe weather by monitoring the weather and preparing a survival kit.  Knowledge and advanced planning will help you and your family remain safe during severe weather.
